Description: Cañon City, the climate capital of Colorado, has one of the widest varieties of location sites found anywhere in the United States, from desert plains to 14,000-foot mountains, ghost mining towns, frontier ranch and cattle towns, roundup camps, high mountain peaks and low rambling foothills. A few miles to the east lie broad flat plains unmarred by fences or habitation. These give way to the foothills covered with brush, juniper and piñon, followed by fir and pine-clad slopes of snow-capped, timberland peaks. There are mountain parks, lush spring-fed meadows, roaring streams and quiet brooks, small homesteads and sprawling ranches, all within an hour's drive. Colorado Springs Film Liaison

Cripple Creek was being considered as the capitol of Colorado back in the 1800’s and was home to over 50,000 people. In 1896 two fires wiped out the business district, forcing the city council to mandate all buildings be built of brick in the business district. From the entrance to Cripple Creek, you can see over 200 miles and many mountain ranges. We offer easy working conditions for film crews. Leadville

It is an area that was sacred to the Native Americans and was developed by William J. Palmer and Dr. Bell as a health resort, the "Saratoga of the West." The mineral waters were used by the Native Americans and the turn-of-the-century health seekers. Today, ten of these springs still flow freely. The town is filled with Victorian, European and western architecture in both its downtown area, a National Historic District, and the surrounding neighborhoods. Manitou Springs is four miles west of Colorado Springs and 60 miles south of Denver. Park County Tourism & Community Development Office

In contrast, the southern end of the county is characterized by remnant volcanoes, granite spires and precipitous river canyons. The western half of the county is an expansive grassland basin at 9,000 feet known as South Park. The county contains working cattle ranches, 19th-century homesteads and historic mining and railroad structures against a variety of scenic backdrops.
